St. Geneviève &
St. Patrick – St. Anthony
our Sister Parish Covenant Relationship since 2005
Sister Parish Committee
The Sister Parish Committee facilitates and enhances the spiritual growth of the people of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Church and St. Geneviève Church through our Covenant Relationship, which creates a bond of solidarity between our two parishes.
St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church has been in a covenant relationship with St. Genevieve Church (Fouji, Zoranje, Haiti) since 2005 to build a bridge between our churches and to provide financial support for St. Genevieve’s parish and school. The Sister Parish Committee coordinates activities for our parish. Each year, a team of our parishioners visits St. Genevieve to get to know the members of our sister parish. Regular events help make parishioners of St. Patrick-St. Anthony aware of the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of the people of Haiti. This relationship deepens our understanding of what it means to live in a global Church and to foster justice, human dignity, and respect for people from different cultures.
This relationship awakens the people of St. Patrick – St. Anthony to a deeper understanding of the issues of social justice, human dignity, and the challenges that relationships across cultural divides and geographic distance present. St. Patrick – St. Anthony sends a parish team to Haiti every year. This visit allows the participants to experience Haitian culture first hand, while they get to know the members of the community of St. Geneviève.
Events like the celebration of the feast of St. Geneviève and the Taste of Haiti make the parish of St. Patrick – St. Anthony aware of the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of the people of Z’orange, Haiti. Through our financial support of the church and parish school, we enable the members of St. Geneviève to follow the Haitian Ministries motto of “helping Haitians help Haitians.”
