Our struggles, challenges, hopes, and desires for a better church moving forward
From your Synod Team,
Thank you to all parishioners who participated in Pope Francis’ Synod by attending our parish in-person and virtual Listening Sessions or submitting written input by mail or email. We are so grateful for your honest, affirming, and challenging answers to our focus questions:
- What have been the joys and obstacles in your journeying together with the Church?
- How might the Holy Spirit be prompting you, and all of us as Church, to improve the ways we are able to journey together?
You entrusted us with your stories…your truths. You shared joys about the Church that are life-giving. You courageously shared obstacles which included a deep personal sense of pain and sadness. And, you were thoughtfully reflective on ways that would improve our journeying together as the People of God. All this was heard and held with care and a sacred trust.
We submitted our parish Synod Summary to the Vatican. Read a copy of the Summary below.
We envision this Summary as a ‘living’ document and that our synodal journey as a parish will continue. Our Team will be collaborating with parish staff, ministry coordinators, and all of you to begin to embody and bring life to some of the improvements expressed in our Summary. For those of you who were unable to participate in this first phase of our Synod process, we look forward to your future involvement. Please look for opportunities this Fall to engage more fully with our Synod experience. We are prayerful and hopeful about the future and we invite you into this ongoing journey.
