Dear Parishioners and Friends,
The recent Chapter of the Franciscan Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe, held in St. Louis, MO, elected a new administration which will guide the Province for the next six years. Our new Minister Provincial is Fr. Michael A. Perry, O.F.M., and the Vicar Provincial is Fr. Erick López, O.F.M.
Fr. Michael (left) served the Franciscan Order in Rome as its Vicar General (2009-13) and Minister General (2013-2021). Most recently he has been the director of the Laudato Si’ Center for Integral Ecology at Siena University. Fr. Erick (right) served for nine years at St. Camillus Parish in Maryland, and as a Provincial Councilor and Director of Novices. He also spent his pastoral internship year here at St. Patrick-St. Anthony prior to his ordination as a priest in 2011. Let us pray for both of our brothers, as well as the seven friars who were elected to the Provincial Council, that the inspiration of St. Francis will strengthen and guide them in their ministry to their brothers.
Through the efforts of Marc Sherer, a member of our Parish Pastoral Council and chairperson of our Bicentennial Committee, we have received a plaque designating St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church as a contributing property of the Ann Street Historic District, first established in 1983. Our church, rebuilt in 1876, is listed in the State and National Registers of Historic Places. We are proud to be part of the history of Hartford for almost 200 years, and we will install the plaque on the church façade soon.
