Dear Parishioners and Friends,

A few weeks ago, I made one of my occasional trips up to Stock-bridge, MA to take in an exhibition at the Norman Rockwell Museum to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary, called “American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell.” The exhibition explores how various artists—from the Revolutionary era to today—have portrayed the story of America using different themes. A related exhibit (on the museum’s lower level) is dedicated to Rockwell’s association with Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon, and other prominent political figures in the mid-20th century. The exhibition runs to October 26, 2026, and I highly recommend it!

Still on subject of art, the image on the cover of today’s bulletin is one of 20 etchings based on images drawn by the artist Sir John Everett Millais and engraved by the Dalziel Brothers in a book published in 1863 entitled The Parables of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This week’s image is of the woman who leavened her bread with yeast. Look for additional images as our Gospel readings relate the parables found in the Gospel of Matthew.
Blessings on your week ahead!
