Spiritual Direction
INDIVIDUAL SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
In Evangelii Gaudium, Pope Francis has described spiritual direction / spiritual companioning as the “art of accompaniment which teaches us to remove our sandals before the sacred ground of the other.” This spiritual accompaniment must, in a steady and reassuring fashion, lead others ever closer to God. As part of that accompaniment, Pope Francis believes that we must learn to practice the art of listening. “Listening, in communication, is an openness of heart which makes possible that closeness without which genuine spiritual encounter cannot occur. Listening helps us to find the right gesture or word which shows that we are more than bystanders.”
Our spiritual directors / spiritual companions are trained in the arts of accompaniment and deep listening. They invite others to a space where their spiritual journey is seen in mutual growth and companionship.
