Brothers and sisters, once again we welcome you to this annual service of music and readings marking the final preparation for the great feast of the Incarnation. We are delighted to be able to celebrate the occasion in person once again, and an unexpected blessing of the pandemic… we were also able to livestream and record this event. Therefore, it is here in it’s entirety for you to enjoy at your leisure from home.
While the history of A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols can be traced to 1880 in Truro, England, its present form was devised for the chapel of King’s College, Cambridge, in 1918. It has been celebrated every Christmas Eve since that time.
The format of nine lessons and carols, telling the story of the birth of Jesus from the prophetic writings through the journey of the Magi, has become a world-wide favorite.
May this Christmas season bring us a renewed spirit of hope as we come together once more to celebrate the great mystery of the Incarnation!
