Dear Parishioners and Friends,
This weekend we will conclude our Christmas in July Giving Tree for our Sister Parish of Saint Geneviève in Haiti. There is still time to make a donation, but I would like to offer my thanks on behalf of the Sister Parish Committee to everyone who has already contributed. I understand that things have gotten a little bit better in Zorange, and the parish school has been able to conduct classes and the children are able to have a hot meal. However, the gangs continue to threaten the peace and stability of Haiti, so we must continue to pray and work for a solution to the civil unrest. Once again, thank you for your concern and generosity towards our Haitian brothers and sisters!
Closer to home, the re-introduction of the Cup of the Blood of Christ at weekend Masses has been going as smoothly as possible, but there have been some hiccups along the way. I am aware of the concerns you have, and we continue to work on ironing out the problems. Everything would go much easier if we had more Eucharistic Ministers to assist us. If you would like to volunteer, please get in touch with Allison Holst-Grubbe, our Volunteer Coordinator, or Stacie Mawson, our Eucharistic Minister Coordinator. Just call the parish office, and we will put you in contact with them.
Thank you to everyone who expressed condolences on the recent death of our Director of Maintenance, Orville Russell. I’m sure his family has been greatly consoled by your support. We are now in the process of finding a new person to head up our maintenance department, and I hope we can find someone with the necessary experience. It’s a big job, and I am grateful to those who have filled in with some of the day-to-day needs.
I will be taking some vacation starting Friday, August 4th. I will be spending a week at the Jersey shore and return on Saturday, August 12th. In the meantime, I hope you have been able to get some down time as well. With all the rain and heat we’ve had, we deserve it!
Blessings on your week ahead!
Fr. Tim Shreenan, O.F.M.Pastor
