Dear Parishioners and Friends,
It’s been a busy summer at St. Patrick-St. Anthony, with several repair projects taking place all at once. These include ongoing work on the air conditioning systems in the church and Franciscan Center, repaving the alley behind the church, and creating a new garden area where our venerable Golden Rain Tree once stood. In its place, we now have an Atlas Cedar which we will bless and dedicate this Sunday after the 5:00 PM Mass in memory of our late Director of Maintenance, Orville Russell, who died a little over one year ago. Orville would have turned 67 on Sunday.
As you can see from the photo, the new garden area incorporates the large metal cross which has moved closer to the stair wall, creating a welcoming space with a bench and a small statue of St. Anthony. The whole area has been laid with sod. Hopefully, the tree will grow strong and tall over the coming years.
Don’t forget to register for “Music Under the Stars” on Saturday, August 24th – an evening of entertainment by the “Evening Serenade” Jazz Band, delicious food and drinks, and a time for us to enjoy the summer’s breezes in the Friary Gardens. It promises to be a relaxing evening with good friends! Please plan to join us, so register as soon as possible.
Blessings on your week ahead!
This week we continue our presentations on vocations with a reflection by Marilyn and Tony Pinto.
