The no freeze shelter in Hartford opens for winter shelter for the homeless on December 8th and once again we will be providing Sunday dinners to the clients of the shelter. We have our Sunday teams coming together but still can use more team members and help with groceries.
For December 10th, we will be serving oven barbequed chicken, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, corn bread and desserts. We need a few people to help with meal prep, delivery and clean up and the ingredients below, let us know if want to join in the fun that afternoon/evening.
These are the grocery items we need before Friday December 8th:
15 lbs of russet potatoes
1 dozen eggs
1 quart heavy cream
6 (8/5 oz boxes of cornbread mix)
1 lb frozen corn
4 heads of cauliflower
8 heads of broccoli
4dz Brownies
4dz cookies
For Christmas Eve Sunday dinner, our plan once again is to have people drop off pots of stew and Sunday evening around 4:00 pm, we will start to combine and reheat. If anyone is available to help that evening or make a pot of stew, a tray of salad or desserts it would be greatly appreciated.
New this year!!! Starting in December we will be serving warm meals along with the sandwich ministry sandwiches at the Franciscan Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We will be working with area restaurants to provide the food for one of those meals and will continue to ask folks to prepare 1 or 2 lbs of either baked ziti, Mac cheese or chili (also served with pasta). Trays can be dropped off cold or frozen – just let us know when you can help out as either a pasta maker or helping to warm, package and serve the meals on Thursdays starting at 2 pm.
Please don’t be shy we need your help in a variety of ways – prayers accepted!
