This cherished tradition weaves together timeless scripture readings, glorious choral music, and congregational carols, celebrating the story of Christmas in an atmosphere of beauty and reverence. This year’s program is a musical journey through the ages, featuring works from the Spanish Renaissance to the present day.
Delight in Tomás Luis de Victoria’s O Magnum Mysterium, the ethereal beauty of Hector Berlioz’s The Shepherd’s Farewell, and Herbert Howells’ quintessentially British St. Paul’s Magnificat. Experience a modern twist with Cecilia McDowall’s In Dulci Jubilo and the timeless charm of Morten Lauridsen’s Sure on This Shining Night. We’ll also present beloved carols, such as David Willcocks’ arrangement of Quelle est cette odeur agréable? in the voices of our Treble Clef Choir, as the Bass Clef Choir tackles Robert Young’s poignant Who Is He in Yonder Stall? A soaring rendition of O Holy Night might be part of it as well: Come and find out!
The program will feature organ scholar Madison H. Thomson at the organ, with the lush sounds of flute, harp, and timpani, all conducted by Director of Music Gabriel Löfvall.
Come and celebrate the mystery and majesty of Christmas in this unforgettable musical experience, and then join us in the Franciscan Center for a reception hosted by our Open Hearts Ministry. All are welcome!
Lessons and Carols will also be livestreamed on our website.
