“If we acknowledge the value and the fragility of nature and, at the same time, our God-given abilities, we can finally leave behind the modern myth of unlimited material progress. A fragile world, entrusted by God to human care, challenges us to devise intelligent ways of directing, developing and limiting our power.”

Being stewards of God’s creation.
How are we doing as stewards of God’s creation? Have we recently experienced the work of God’s hands? Have we noticed that things are not as they should be? The “God’s Creation Needs You!” video series tells the stories of Catholic communities across the United States who are caring for our common home. These include climate action, advocacy, farming, community organizing, service to others, solar energy, education, prayer, and a focus on environmental justice. Each of these videos are about three to five minutes long and introduce the work of U.S. Catholic communities as they respond to Laudato Si and Laudate Deum. This week we introduce the first two of six videos in the series. After all six videos are presented, we will have an opportunity for discussion.
The first video highlights the work of Immaculate Conception parish in Hampton, VA as it leads the way and takes action on creation care locally, nationally, and globally.
The second video features Mary Queen Catholic parish’s Creation Care Team in Friendswood, TX as it responds to the climate crisis.
