“Painting in the Garden”
from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Join parishioner and artist Shannon McCarthy for “plein air painting” (painting outside) in our beautiful friary gardens.
In this class, we will:
Review beautiful paintings of nature
Learn how to design a painting
Learn oil painting basics
Begin a painting in the garden
Price for three mornings of art in the garden is $75 per child in 3rd – 8th grade.
Cost of the camp includes high quality art supplies, which will be provided.
About Shannon
Shannon McCarthy is a fine artist, focusing on oil painting. She has completed seven years of study at the Sandra Wakeen Atelier, and recently completed a Roses collection. Shannon’s studio is in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. She holds degrees in Linguistics and Classical Studies from the University of Florida.
Shannon is a certified Catechesis of the Good Shepherd catechist and is currently a catechist at St Patrick-St Anthony Church, Hartford CT. Shannon, together with her husband and two children live in Stafford Springs CT.
Price for three mornings of art in the garden is $75 per child in 3rd – 8th grade.
“Exploration of Global Music”
from 12:30 – 3:00 pm
Join our Director of Music Gabriel Löfvall for an exploration of global music.
Take a musical adventure around the world, discovering the rich musical heritage of different countries and exploring their traditional songs, dances, and instruments.
Price for three afternoons of music is $30 per child in 3rd – 8th grade.
About Gabe
Gabe Löfvall grew up listening to the sounds of tango in his native Argentina, and is at ease conducting, playing keyboards, or singing tenor. Gabriel’s music making has been heard all over the world, including Argentina, Chile, Brazil, England, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Hungary and Canada. He has served as the assistant conductor for The Main Street Singers of New Britain, and as a member of CONCORA. In addition to his duties as Director of Music, Gabriel is the director of both the Bass Clef Choir and Gallery Choir and has developed a choral program that presents two choral/orchestral masterpieces yearly. He also co-directs the vocal ensemble Vallis Musicæ and is the Artistic Director of Joyful Noise Inc., the umbrella organization for Chorus Angelicus & Gaudeamus. Gabriel is a frequent guest conductor and lecturer at different symposiums and conferences.
Gabriel received his D.M.A (Doctor of Musical Arts degree) in choral conducting from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in May of 2016.
Price for three afternoons of music is $30 per child in 3rd – 8th grade.
Sign up for both Art and Music Camps and stay from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm!
Price for both Art and Music camps is $100/child for all three days.
Children that stay for the day can bring a lunch and will eat together with Religious Education Staff from 12:00 – 12:30 pm each day. We will eat in the garden if the weather is nice!
