Panel Discussion at 7 pm Panelist: Artist Adeebah Alnemar; graphic novel author Jake Halpern; and illustrator Michael Sloan.
Adeebah Alnemar sees herself as an artist, a woman, and a mother. She is from Homs, Syria and is a self-taught artist. Her work addresses themes of the tragedy of war and displacement, beauty amidst turmoil, and her hope for peace.
During the panel discussion, the artist spoke about her work and life’s journey; Jake Halpern, author and writer for numerous magazines, including The New York Times Sunday Review, spoke about his graphic novel series Welcome to the New World; and Michael Sloan, award-winning illustrator of this graphic novel, spoke about the process of visualization.
This exhibition was also be part of Slow Art Day on Saturday, April 14th, 4 to 5 pm. Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: to help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art. Please see the website slowartday.org
