Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Once again, the summer season draws to a rapid close as we observe Labor Day on Monday, September 7th. Why is it that the summer months fly by while the winter months seem to drag on endlessly? On the bright side, we have established a wonderful end-of-summer tradition here at St. Patrick-St. Anthony with our annual “Summer Sounds” evening of dining and dancing. This year was no exception, and I am so pleased that we had a good number of folks who enjoyed a wonderful gathering of good food and good company. I am told that my wardrobe stole the show. You be the judge.

The shirt was a birthday gift from one of my brothers a few years ago. It includes an image of St. Patrick surrounded by shamrocks, as well as what appears to be St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. I’ve been waiting for just the right occasion to wear it!
Many thanks to Jim Moriarty for taking care of all the details, as well as everyone who assisted in making Summer Sounds a perfect way to end the season. On to autumn!
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 in New York City, Washington, DC and rural Pennsylvania. Next weekend at all our Masses we will have a brief ritual lighting of four candles to remember the four planes and their passengers, the victims in the World Trade Center and Pentagon, and all who have died since 9/11 due to toxic exposure at Ground Zero. Let us pray for peace and reconciliation in a world that has never been the same since that fateful day.
Stay tuned for news about our celebration of the Feast of St. Francis as we commemorate the 8th centenary of his death in 1226.
Blessings on your week ahead!
Fr. Tim Shreenan, O.F.M.
Pastor

It is important that when you give to any charitable organization, you are confident that the funds received are being used wisely. Be assured that your gift to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal sup-ports the ministries and programs indicated in the 2026 Appeal literature! Organizations such as St. Anthony’s Bread for the Poor right here in our own parish received funding from the Appeal’s Vicariate Outreach Program that makes a difference in the lives of our local neighbors.
Join us, your parish community, and We Are One, by sharing your blessings with the less fortunate.
