Dear Parishioners and Friends,

I am always amazed when I open one of the emails that come from our parish several times each week. Like New York, the city that never sleeps, it feels as if we are a parish that never sleeps! In one recent email, I found 12 different events coming up in the next few weeks, and that’s not counting recurring Zoom events like Group Spiritual Reflection, Quiet Prayer, Divine Reading, Weekly Rosary, and so forth.
Lest they get lost in the jumble, allow me to highlight some important events that are coming up in the next two weeks:
This weekend, November 7-8, we will remember our deceased parishioners and loved ones with our annual Mass of Remembrance and the Litany of Remembrance at all Masses. You are welcome to visit the memorial lights in the friary gardens.
Also this weekend, the Ladies Guild will hold their annual Christmas Corner Tea Cup Auction in the Franciscan Center after all Masses. And don’t forget it’s also Community Sunday after the 8:00 and 10:00 AM Masses.
Next weekend, November 14-15, we will celebrate a Mass of the Anointing of the Sick on Saturday at 11:00 AM. This is always a beautiful and powerful moment to call upon the healing power of Christ to bring peace and strength to those in our parish who are struggling with illness.
On Sunday, November 15, at the 5:00 PM Mass, we will observe Transgender Day of Remembrance and offer prayer for the members of the trans community who have died from anti-trans violence in the past year.
Also on November 15, we will hold a Welcome Brunch for new parishioners. If you are new to our parish, please come and let us get to know you!
November 15 is also our Eighteenth Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive. Frozen turkeys, stuffing mix and canned vegetables can be dropped of from 7:30 AM and 12 Noon.

Blessings on your week ahead!
