Clare Gallery: Inspired Assemblages Closing Artist Reception
March 15 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Connecticut artist, Terese Newman’s work is inspired by vivid childhood memories of Mexican celebrations filled with color, music, and spirit, shaping her lifelong commitment to saturated palettes and expressive narratives. Guided by a personal spirituality influenced by, but distinct from, her Catholic upbringing, she often incorporates symbolic elements to create playful, empowering “saints.”
As a Mexican-American who later moved to New England, art became her way of preserving cultural roots and reclaiming personal power. Inspired Assemblages, both her cigar-box collages and digital painting, reflect ongoing internal conversations with guides and inner voices, transforming past feelings and memories into creative strength, humor, and empowerment messages.
