Care for God’s Creation

April 23, 2023 @ 11:00 am

Celebrate Earth Day! Sunday April 23rd after the 10:00 am Mass

In celebration of Earth Day, the Secular Franciscan’s will be distributing Rudbeckia plants (Black-Eyed Susan) to express Care for God’s creation.

Black-Eyed Susan’s are a native plant and a good pollen source for bees and other pollinators. In the summer months the leaves of the plant are a source of nourishment for 15 species of butterfly and caterpillars. In the fall and winter, the cones of the flower continue to provide food for migrating and wintering songbirds.

You can help to Care for God’s Creation by planting Black-Eyed Susan’s and other native plant species in your yard. For additional information about the importance of pollinators, please visit: www.pollinator-pathway.org
